Don’t Teach Entrepreneurship in a Vacuum
Learn How to Join the Mastermind Group
In a recent newsletter, I shared the famous African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” This is applicable in all areas of life but has special applicability to the concept of mastermind groups.
As more and more schools begin to offer entrepreneurship and start entrepreneurial programs, collaboration gains a heightened importance. When we can share best practices and provide helpful advice, we enter a space of collected wisdom. Wisdom, as we know, does not come from experience but from evaluated experience.
When I worked to launch the entrepreneurship program at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy over ten years ago, I was working solo—few if any schools had entrepreneurship programs and there certainly was not fully developed (read “worthwhile”) curriculum. While I credit some of the success of our program to this “bootstrap mentality,” I also recognize that our growth could have been supercharged with advice and direction from those who have gone before. And it would have saved quite a bit of loneliness.
This school year, I’ll be working directly with over 15 schools from around the nation who are launching, developing, and growing entrepreneurship programs. One of the biggest benefits of this has been the development of the Entrepreneurship Educators Mastermind Group which meets monthly to explore a key topic of entrepreneurship in the K-12 space and share current challenges and opportunities.
Whether you have a developed program or you are thinking of starting an entrepreneurship class, this mastermind group can bring tremendous benefit to your personal and professional growth. Connect with me to learn how to join this powerful group as early as next month and reap the benefits of collaboration.
